They that can give up essential liberty
to obtain a little temporary safety
deserve neither liberty or safety.
B. Franklin 1759

If I were not liberal when young,
I had no heart.
Were I not conservative when old,
I have no head.
Paraphrase of W. Churchill, et al

"Anyway, always do your voting to help the country for the generations to come,
if it does happen to go against your own interests and present idea of things."
Kenneth U. Blass - 1924

FROZEN RAIN

I wait the vaunted wind to rise,
While gazing on the icy bough.
The night has brought a beauteous sight
Of hanging limbs bedecked in white
Or clear glazed coverings of thickly frozen rime

When sun breaks through
The world is new
Limbs start to rise
From weights imposed by night
And no more break and crack
As some did early in the morn.

James M. Blass

GREETINGS

A FICTION section!

RIPCHEN, KRAUT AND ABELWOI

THE TELEPHONE CALL

This data has been removed for revision.

I have transcribed my parents correspondence during their courtship.

Reading it all gives one the tenor of the times, the 1920's,
and their long road to marriage.

So try it. It may become addictive.
